    • We recommend our Starter plan to get started.
    • Cost: $4 AUD+ per month
  3. 30 min of your undivided attention!

What we will be covering

  • How to Register a Domain Name for Free
  • How to Choose the Best Web Hosting
  • How to Install and Setup WordPress Blog
  • How to Change Your Blog Design Template
  • How to Write Your First Blog Post
  • How to Customize a WordPress Blog with Plugins
  • How to Setup Google Analytics Tracking
  • How to Optimize Your Website for SEO
  • How to Make Money From Your Blog

So are you ready? Let’s get started!

Step 1 – Setup

The biggest mistake people make when setting up is using the wrong blogging platform. Thankfully you have come to our post on how to get your WordPress blog set up so you do not make the same mistakes as others have in the past.

For 95% of users, it makes sense to use wordpress.org. Why is this? It’s because it is free to use easy to customise, many free plugins and can be hosted anywhere anytime and fully customisable!

You might be wondering why is WordPress free? what is the catch? The simple answer there is no catch, you just have to set up and host it yourself.

In super simple terms, you need your own domain name and web hosting

A domain name is what people type to get to your website. This about Google.com or HBHosting.com.au

Web hosting is where your website’s files live. It’s your website’s house on the internet. Every website needs web hosting.

How to order a domain name & Web Hosting (the simple way)

Step 1: Open up HBHosting‘s website in a new tab
Step 2: Scroll down to where you see different web hosting plans
Step 3: We will be selecting the $4 plan as that is all you need for your blog for now.
Step 4: Follow the prompts to register a new domain. Here is where you choose what your domain name will be.
Step 5: Continue until you check out and pay
Step 6: You’re done you are now the proud owner of that domain name and have webspace as well!

Step 2: Install WordPress

To install WordPress on your web hosting plan at HBHosting there are two ways to do this.

  1. Yourself (takes 2 min) – Free
  2. Asking us (takes 2 min) – Free

It just depends on what you want!

Step 1: Log into our client area.
Step 2: Click services
Step 3: Click the service you just ordered
Step 4: Click login to cPanel
Step 5: Scroll all the way to the bottom where you will see WordPress manager
Step 6: Click New Site
Step 7: Follow the prompts to set it up.

And you’re done you have now set up WordPress on your own website!

Step 3: Customising your blog

Now for the fun bit, making the blog yours!

We recommend installing the following plugins. This is done by logging into your WordPress admin area.

The usual URL for this is www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Once you have logged in on the left-hand side you will see a heading called plugins. Click that, and then at the top of the page click add new.

Now that you are there you will need to install and activate the following plugins.

Plugin List
1. Elementor – Drag and Drop website builder
2. Yoast SEO – Easy to use SEO manager plugin
3. Litespeed Cache – Speeds up your websites load times
4. ExactMetrics – Tells you how many views you get a day

Once you have installed all of those its time to create your Blog!

On the left-hand side (the same place you found the plugins heading). Look for pages. This is where you can create and edit all your websites pages. Not blog posts we are still getting to that!

Click ‘Add New’, and at the top, there is a button saying edit with Elementor. Click that and it will take you to your page builder

Yes I know it looks terrible right now. But hold on we will make it a blank page.

Step 1: At the bottom left there is a setting button click that.
Step 2: Change the page’s title from Elementor to Home, or whatever this page will be
Step 3: Change page layout to Elementor canvas
Now you can start your page from scratch and really make it your own!

You can follow the above steps to do the exact same thing for blog posts but under the heading posts instead of pages! How easy is that!

Step 4: Optimising SEO and Getting Found on Google

Now a lot of people make this sound much harder than it really is, but in essence, to deo basic SEO, you can do it on your own with Yoast SEO.

Click on Yoast SEO on the left hand side, and follow their step by step guide on setting up their plugin!

But that’s, not it. A massive tip for SEO optimisation is to have on-page and off-page SEO.

On-page SEO is anything you write on your website. For example, having your keywords repeated throughout your pages and blog posts. This will let Google know what the posts are about.

Off-page SEO is having people link to your website.

That’s all great, but even if I search my own website I am not on google? What do I do? This is because you have not added your site to google. To do this go to Google Webmasters and register your website there – Again this is free!

Step 5: Making Money

So you might be done, everything is set up, you have a bunch of amazing posts. But now how do I pay for it and cover all my costs?

This is where you research into the niche you have chosen and find website’s that have affiliate marketing.

For example, if you were talking about web design or hosting you could sign up to HBHostings. Affiliate marketing program and earn a % of every sale you brought in. This is possible to do with every industry out there you just have to look for them!

If you have made it this far into the blog post we would like to thank you, and if this has helped you in any way please share this on social media to help others get the help they may need!

Best of luck everyone!

How To Increase Website Visitors

How To Increase Website Visitors

How To Increase Website Visitors? This is a question we get asked on the daily by almost all of our clients. People visit or leave your website for a reason. When people visit, it means they are interested in the products or services your company wants to offer. Some website owners invest in making sure that the website looks presentable and pleasing to the eyes without realizing that there are other aspects that must be kept in mind. There are four reasons people leave your website:

1. Takes 3 seconds or more to load

Slow websites drive people away. It is estimated that 40% of visitors are more likely to leave a website if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load. There are many reasons for the slow speed such as images, scripts, HTML and CSS being too large. This problem can be resolved by ensuring that the sizes are kept to a minimum or compressing them with special software. Crazy animations can also contribute to slow loading time. Your web host provider has to do with the slow speed as well. Make sure you check your website speed regularly and change host if you are not getting a reliable web host.

With HBHosting we understand this issue greatly and is why we offer only the best hosting plans to ensure your websites load fast so you do not lose out on future and current visitors

2. Lack of graphic element and readability

Not everyone visiting your website can navigate it with ease. Before designing your website, make sure that you do not miss out on-site navigation. Expect some visitors who are not familiar with navigating the website. If they are not sure how to use your website, they will choose to leave it instead. When thinking about the design of your website, you will also have to think about its functionality. Your website should be simple, clear and professional.

3. Not mobile responsive

Since everyone is using their smartphones for online transactions, it is imperative that your business does not fall behind the digital trend. If your website is not mobile responsive, there is a greater chance for your audience to abandon your website. They will move on to another source that offers a mobile responsive website. It is important to take your audience’s mobile needs into consideration so you can create a responsive mobile design.

In addition, Google has now changed how they operate and will penalise you if your websites ranking if it is not mobile responsive to their standards.

4. Not updating blog posts

Regular visitors want to stay updated by reading on your website. If they do not see anything new, they are less likely to stay. This is why you need to update your content frequently so visitors will know that you keep them engaged. With regard to the frequency, think about the type of niche you have and the audience you are trying to target. You will be able to have a loyal reader when they have something to look forward to on a regular basis.

But do not worry! Even if you do not have a blog there are various other ways to keep visitors staying! Stay tuned for future blog posts to find out how!

Is Following The Latest Web Design Trends Necessary?

Website owners make it a habit to update their web design to ensure that the style is in season. While there are free themes available to install, the designs that fit your brand’s personality will require you to shell out some cash. When there is money involved, it is important to think things over before deciding on changing the web design. Trends come and go. Does this mean that websites have to keep up with the latest cool trend?

If you order a webdesign from HBHosting we will make your website look modern and up to date! Even after the website has been created if you pay a monthly maintenance fee we will also be able to help keep the website up to date and small updates to the overall design!

As 2019 comes to an end, website owners are looking forward to giving their websites an overhaul. Indeed a fresh new look gives visitors an element of surprise. In 2019, soft, dull colours were a huge hit. Some trends will still be relevant in 2020 while others have to go. New web designs are meant to provide opportunities to improve especially if the previous designs have any shortcomings that deter the website owner from conveying the brand message to prospects.

Visual format is essential. You need to avoid mistakes or it will result in a high abandon rate. Websites make lasting impressions. Lucky for those that have managed to create a good impression. When visitors have difficulties navigating your website, not seeing enough information that can help them with their buying decision or find the website distracting, you can lose those precious seconds converting leads into sales.

If you have found out about the latest trend in web designs, ask yourself about the areas of your website that you need to improve. You will also need to think about your goals. Do you intend to cater to new audiences? Do you want to incorporate new technologies to make it easier for your audience to access your website? Embracing trends is not just to overcome the fear of missing out. You make use of new trends to improve your website’s usability.

Reasons you need a new website design:

  • Increase the ability of your website to display data
  • Add different forms of virtual information
  • Make website mobile responsive
  • Utilise video and infographics better

On-trend web design and your budget

Although new trends in website design have so much to offer, it does not mean that it will endure. Aside from identifying the goals you want to achieve, you will also need to identify how long your website will cater to your needs without a major rebuild or refresh. When choosing a web design, it is important to work within your budget. There is no need to refresh your web design from time to time if you only have a limited budget.

10 Simple Steps for a Successful Brand Building Process

10 Simple Steps for a Successful Brand Building Process

Make no mistake about it; a recognisable and lovable brand image is the most valuable asset a business can have.

According to a Nielson survey, 59% of consumers prefer to buy new products from brands familiar to them. Think about it. When you buy running shoes, you will go to the same few businesses and rarely try out new ones.

So what does this mean to you? As a small business, you are competing against the big brands who have thousands of devoted customers and unlimited marketing budgets. That is why you will need to find various ways to differentiate with a robust brand building process of your own.

What is a brand?

Simply put, your brand is defined by how customer’s see your business.

A successful brand has to be consistent in communication and experience, across many applications:

What is brand building?

The definition of brand building is to generate awareness about your business using marketing strategies.

  • User Experience (i.e. your website)
  • SEO & Content Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Email Marketing
  • Paid Advertising (PPC)

How to build a brand

1. Determine your brand’s target audience.

Who are you trying to sell to? Is it single mums, business owners, or is it people who play a specific game. No matter who your target audience is, you will need to have one in mind. If you don’t, stop reading now and come back when you do.

Other Examples:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Location
  • Income
  • Education Level
  • Motivations
  • Goals
  • Pain points
  • Influencers
  • Brand affinities

2. Establish a brand mission statement.

Have you thought about your brand mission? What is your businesses goal? How will you know what you’ve done has been successful?

Example:
HBHostings mission statement is “To be Australia’s best web hosting provider excelling in customer service.”

Nike’s mission is: “To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world“.

3. Research brands within your industry niche.

You should never copy or imitate what your competitors are doing, but you should see what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong, and do it better.

4. Outline the key qualities & benefits your brand offers.

What makes your brand the best?

Examples:

  • More authentic and transparent customer service
  • A better way to support productivity
  • Reducing costs with a more affordable option
  • Saving time on daily tasks

5. Create a brand logo & tagline.

A strong brand style guide will include the following things:

  • Logo size and placement
  • Color palette
  • Typography and fonts
  • Iconography
  • Photography/image style
  • Web elements

6. Form your brand voice.

A brand voice could be:

  • Professional
  • Friendly
  • Service-oriented
  • Authoritative
  • Technical
  • Promotional
  • Conversational
  • Informative

7. Build a brand message and elevator pitch.

This part of the brand development process goes beyond your logo and tagline to define the critical aspects of:

  • who you are,
  • what you offer, and
  • why people should care.

8. Integrate your brand into every aspect of your business.

Your brand image never stops. Whether they walk into your office, go onto your website or see a facebook post about you, they should instantly know which business they are dealing with.

9. Stay true to your brand building.

Unless you decide to change your brand into something more effective based on measured consumer response, consistency is key.

10. Be your brand’s biggest advocate.

If you won’t advocate for your brand, who will?

No one knows your brand better than you, so it’s up to you to spread the word.
